On 12.9.2022 at 10:00 a.m. the opening ceremony of the new Digital Academy high school in Kutná Hora Malín took place. The event was attended by more than 250 people - the management of the town of Kutná Hora headed by the mayor Mr. Ing. Josef Viktora, a team of school staff, first year students and their families, journalists and residents of Kutná Hora - Malín.

The opening took place directly in the newly renovated premises of the previously abandoned primary school in Malín.

Ing. Josef Viktora spoke in particular about how the inhabitants of Malín and the whole of Kutná Hora are happy that the historic building will once again fulfil the purpose for which it was built and that he very much likes the new look of the building, which has once again become a serious landmark of the nearby area. In the presence of both vice-mayors of the town, the ribbon cutting ceremony took place. A tour of the renovated and non-renovated parts of the school and some refreshments followed for those interested.

The historic school building has undergone a major renovation. The Digital Academy was ready for the arrival of its first students in just six months. This first phase of the renovation included, among other things, the restoration of the first floor with two main classrooms, classrooms, a choir room, principal's office and cafeteria. It was also possible to completely replace the roofing and install skylights and traditional windows throughout the building. Landscaping work has been carried out in the school garden and an outdoor yurt has been built on the foundations, which will be used to enhance the school's teaching when the weather is suitable. The renovation of the façade and insulation of the whole building is currently in progress.

Next year, the reconstruction will continue with the second phase, which includes the complete renovation of the second floor of the building with new classrooms. At the same time, two first-year classes will open in the 2023/2024 school year, each for 25 new students, as well as one class for 20 distance learning students.

The Digital Academy offers its students courses focused on business and information technology, taught partly in English. The entire course is completed with an English International Baccalaureate. Students can take part in free work placements and exchanges abroad each year in England, Ireland, Germany, Australia and Italy.

The entire project was implemented at a time when interest in private schools is growing throughout the Czech Republic. When choosing a school, the smaller number of children in classes and the individual approach are particularly important for parents. Students at private secondary schools are looking not only for modern equipment and teaching aids, but above all for practical teaching that will better prepare them for their future careers.
